About
This blog is dedicated to my mom Michele. She was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in the spring of 2018. I wanted to share what we learned about this disease through the course of our journey through it. Although unusual symptoms had been occurring for many years it wasn’t until the winter of 2017 / spring of 2018 that things really ramped up for my mom. It felt like the beginning but really it had been in process for many years. One day shortly after her official diagnosis I was sitting with my Mom having lunch. She just started crying and said to me “I’m so lonely.” It broke my heart. It also gave me insight into what must be going on inside of her as this disease developed. It’s been a painful process to witness someone that means the world to you to slowly lose touch with themselves and the reality they have known. My hope is that sharing these experiences will give you some help and guidance in the difficult journey ahead.
My mom Michele passed away just before midnight on October 31, 2020. She was incredibly wise, strong, intelligent, passionate, funny, fun and cared so much about people as well as mining for treasures at Goodwill. After she passed I heard from many many people she had known about how she helped them through a difficult point in their lives. She was a beautiful soul that brightened the lives of many. May my sweet mama rest in peace.
